Wasim Akram bats for turning tracks in India’s home contests
January 31, 2012
Sultan of swing Wasim Akram advised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to dish out turning tracks when teams like England and Australia tour the sub-continent. It may be recalled that under-fire India opener Gautam Gambhir was of the similar opinion during a press conference a few a days ago.
“I always believe in home advantage. If Australia rely on green pitches, then sub-continent teams can make spinning tracks too. There is nothing wrong with that,” Akram said.
Reacting to England’s miserable Test series against Pakistan, the former Pakistan captain felt that the current world No 1 side could win only at home. “This (World No 1) is a very misleading number. England are lions only at home. Their weaknesses are always exposed on foreign tours.
