Wasim Akram and Sachin Tendulkar have mutual respect for the other’s cricketing prowess. Wasim Akram cites Sachin Tendulkar as one of the greatest batsmen that India has produced, in fact one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket.

When Sachin Tendulkar made his test debut against Pakistan in Karachi in 1989, it was obvious to the cricketing world that he was destined for great things. His cricketing career, and his tremendous commitment to cricket is obvious, and he has become the first batsman to score 50 test centuries, a tremendous feat by any measure.

Wasim Akram also has great expectations for Sachin in the future, and predicts that he should make at least 50 centuries in all aspects of cricket. Anything less would be a great disappointment to millions of cricket fans the world over.

Wasim Akram follows the score card whenever and wherever Sachin is batting, and cherishes all the occasions when he claimed Sachin’s wicket, whether in test cricket or one day internationals.

Wasim says that Sachin has been a true match winner for India. He quotes him as a great cricketer and the best role model for all sportsmen.

Sachin also thinks highly of Wasim Akram, and says that he was one of the best bowlers and Sachin always treats him with greatest respect. Due to the three occasions that Wasim Akram has claimed Sachin’s wicket has always made Sachin wary of Wasim’s bowling.

Unfortunately, due to tensions between the two countries, cricket suffered and these two cricketing greats have been denied opportunities to really contribute their best efforts towards the game of cricket.
