In the second test that India played against England at Trent Bridge, Stuart Broad was successful in carrying out a hat-trick. Since Stuart Broad is the fifth bowler of the England side who has been successful in doing this at Trent Bridge since 1990. It is also the first hat trick achieved against the Indian team. From the Indian side Rahul Dravid was successful in scoring 117 runs which is also his second century in the series currently being played. It is Rahul Dravid’s 34th century in test matches.
Stuart Broads’s performance has remained spectacular as he went to take to 5 wickets. Broad’s 6 for 46 was marked as his fourth five wicket haul. There were only 21 runs added by the last 5 wickets that remained in the second test, which is the fourth lowest aggregate made by the 5 last remaining wickets against England. Yuvraj and Dravid together made a total of 128 runs in partnership which was marked as the third highest made by a 5th wicket for India.
In the 3rd test match India made 300 runs and got all out, this was in the first innings and it was the tenth time India got dismissed by just making 300 runs in test matches since January 2009. Again Stuart Broad came through by taking 4 wickets in the innings. MS Dhoni made a total of just 77 runs which is the second half century in the 2011 tour. To the shock of many Virender Sehwag was dismissed at the very first delivery. It was the fifth time he got dismissed at the very first ball in test matches.
India made 113 run off as a result of the partnership between the eighth and ninth wicket which is also the fourth highest aggregate runs made through this partnership. Andrew Strauss for the England side made a half century which is his first in nine innings since January 2011.
