ISLAMABAD – Dubai Super Sixes cricket tournament to be held under DCC, from December 2, to mark the UAE’s 40th National Day, is a fantastic opportunity for local players to prove their mettle, said Wasim Akram on Tuesday.

The six-a-side cricket tournament will be played in Dubai International Cricket Stadium having a more progressive format to celebrate the spirit of cricket in the region, he added. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, South Africa and Australia playing alongside 48 corporate cricket teams from the region.

Each participating team should comprise six players, along with two substitutes, and with the opportunity to choose five neutral fielders from a large pool of players with 5-over inning under the supervision of neutral umpires.

The eight teams that reach the quarter-final stage will each be assigned a top cricket player, who will play alongside them and serve as a mentor/coach. The previous tournament was played on knockout basis and this year, the matches will be held in the round-robin league basis to give the teams more chances to qualify for the knock out stage.
